About the Topic
Robin Quinville will discuss the United States new national security strategy, a significant departure from previous policies that has rippling effects worldwide. She will focus on the transactional, less engaged, and "America First" policies that challenge traditional transatlantic security alliances. She will share her observations about European security discussions with special emphasis on the 2026 Munich Security Conference.
About the Speaker
Robin Quinville is the former Director of the Wilson Center’s Global Europe Program (2022-2025). She spent more than 30 years as a U.S. diplomat. She served primarily in Europe, including postings to two multilateral organizations (the Organization on Security and Cooperation in Europe and NATO) and bilateral postings to Cyprus, Bosnia, Greece, the United Kingdom and Germany. She also spent a year in Baghdad, Iraq. In Washington, she directed the Office of Western European Affairs at the Department of State. Her final diplomatic assignment was a chargé d’affaires at the U.S. Embassy in Berlin. Robin spent a semester as the Sol M. Linowitz Visiting Professor of International Affairs at Hamilton College. She holds an M.Phil. from Columbia University. A native of California, Robin now lives in Arlington, Virginia and is affiliated with the American-German Institute. She received her undergraduate degree from the University of Redlands and her MA in European History from Columbia University.
